Solar PV panels and battery storage

Solar energy is one of the world’s fastest growing renewable solutions. You could save money, save carbon and save the planet by harnessing the sun’s energy to power your home, office or commercial building. Installing Solar Panels reduces your dependency on the grid and will produce electricity all year round, even on cloudy days. What’s more, the incentive to upgrade to solar has never been better with government grants and funding available to help you green and utilise renewable energy. At CMS Surveyors Ltd, we have an in-house design team that can utilise cutting-edge design software to ensure you reach the full potential of your building’s energy efficiency, whether that is in a domestic, commercial or industrial capacity. We cover all of Scotland, so why wait? Talk to our team now.

Reduced energy costs for businesses

Solar battery storage diagram

Solar panels can be used to help power a commercial building, removing the dependency to use energy from the grid which isn’t always from renewable sources. Solar panels absorb light that shines on them and a direct current of electricity is created. This electricity is fed back into an inverter which makes the electricity usable on the commercial property.

Commercial solar panels can be a great investment for any business to help reduce costs, improve efficiency, and lessen your company’s impact on the environment. At CMS Surveyors, we offer a range of commercial solar panels that are cost-effective and efficient. Why not call us now on 01389 298330 to find out more information?

Solar Power Battery Storage

Solar panel battery storage systems will store the energy that has been generated by your solar panels and allow you to use it in the evenings, when your panels have stopped generating. You can use this batter storage, irrespective of whether you choose to be connected to the grid. The cost of battery storage will depend on the size and capacity needed, and the experts at CMS Surveyors are on hand to ensure you get the set up you need. The benefits of using solar PV panels and battery storage include:

Reduce carbon emissions coming from your property

Generate electricity for free

Reduce grid dependency

Reduced energy bills

We were delighted with CMS after the installation of a heat pump, solar panels and storage batteries. Having learned about how essential a skilled installation was to the efficiency of the heat pump, we were sceptical of the salesmen from other companies who attempted sell us a generic system that suited them (as opposed to our property). When the Director of Renewables from CMS, Cameron Bryce, came to the property, the first thing he wanted to do was a proper heat-loss calculation, so we knew we were on the right track. The data generated ensured we finished up with a bespoke system for our 1960s home. Our existing pipework and radiators did not need to be replaced. The installation itself was stress-free: The scaffolding went up in one day, carpets were protected, and work was completed in a week, without any mess being left behind. John’s experience and knowledge of heat-pump systems was impressive and he took the time to demonstrate how everything worked. Mark was on-hand to answer all our questions and coordinate the various teams of professionals during the week; he also setup the two online monitoring systems for the equipment. The solar engineer, Jordan, was available to answer our questions by phone and message as we got to grips with the hybrid inverter. The system was installed in mid-April 2024 when the weather was still cold. The heating, hot water and shower all worked well and the efficiency of the heat pump is better than we expected, even for hot water. The heat pump is surprisingly quiet at only 35dB. Since commissioning, we have only drawn 17% of our energy from the grid and most importantly, our home has emitted no CO2. We would recommend CMS without hesitation and have done so to our friends and colleagues.

I have just had an Air Source Heat Pump, Solar Panels and Batteries specified, supplied and installed by CMS surveyors. The service and support from Cameron and his team through the whole process has been excellent. The installation team, led by John, worked very hard, and they were easy to get along with making the installation a more comfortable process than it might have been. I'm pleased that I chose CMS for this job and have no hesitation in recommending them.

  • Is an Air Source Heat Pump the Best Option for Me?
There are a few things you will need to take into consideration when deciding if an air source heat pump is right for you. First of all, you will need a place for it. Ideally, you would need a space outside your house where you can fit it to a wall or place it on the ground. They also work more effectively in homes that are well insulated as this would minimise any heat loss. Also have a think about the type of heat source that the air source pump is replacing. It will save you much more money if you are transitioning from a system that is typically expensive such as electric heating, oil or LPG. So if you find yourself looking online for an air source heat pump installer near me, you have come to the right place.
  • How do Air Source Heat Pumps Work?
There are 2 main types of Air Source Heat Pumps which are Air-to-Air, and Air-to-Water. Air-to-Water are the most common types of ASHP’s. Here, the pump will absorb the heat from the air outside, and then transfer the heat into water whereas Air-to-Air needs to circulate warm air around your house. If you are looking for funding, check out the Home Energy Scotland funding options on our site.
  • How Efficient Are Air Source Heat Pumps in Winter?
There is a common myth that air source heat pumps won’t work in winter – however, they are still functional in the colder weather. It works like a sponge, so heat is absorbed and transferred. Even in temperatures as low as -25 degrees they can still heat up a home. Even if it is -10 degrees and there is snow on the ground, the refrigerant gas still absorbs heat from the ambient air temperature.
  • How Loud Are Air Source Heat Pumps?
Most heating products will make a noise of some sort, and ASHP’s is typically around 40-60 decibels when a meter away, however, this will depend on the individual product. As this is classed as a permitted development and no planning permission is required, you can install them as close as 1m to a neighbour or bedroom which gives you an idea how quiet they really are!
  • Will I Qualify for the HES Funding?
Air source heat pumps are part of the scheme introduced by the Government. The objective is to reward people who are investing in renewable heating technology and changing from fossil fuels. This means that you could receive financial income for every unit of heat generated.
  • What is the Metering and Monitoring Service Package?
A Metering and Monitoring Service Package (MMSP) is a useful way to check how well your heating system is performing. If you have an air source heat pump or a biomass boiler that burns wood pellets, you could be eligible for MMSP. This service package will log data every two minutes and can result in additional financial support of £1610. This payment typically comes at the same time as the quarterly RHI payments. MMSP will use temperature sensors, electricity meters and heat meters to obtain accurate data on your system’s performance.
